Etlingera

Etlingera are commonly known as “Torch Ginger” in the landscape trade and “Stone Rose” in the floral world. These species are known for their long flower stems and thick, waxy, brightly colored bracts. From powder white to deep reds and maroons these mace shaped blooms invoke a festive yet soothing visual response. Best suited for greenhouse or tropical conditions, they are an unforgettable garden experience.

A fairly large variety with foliage reaching heights of 4 – 5 m. stem lengths average 1 m. and flower a present through out the year.

Similar in stature to ‘Pink Torch’, this form is robust and free flowering.

Slightly more petite at 3 – 4m., it’s spidery, reflexed bracts and glossy pastel color make it very distinctive.

This new introduction from Thailand has numerous ruffled, pale, pink bracts on long stems.

Pure white without out a trace of pink. We’ve waited a long time for something this special. Roughly the same size as ‘Red Torch’, this form gets bright yellow dayflowers as it matures.

This new variety has reddish stems and maroon foliage 3 to 4 m. high and a nice, tight clump.

Slightly fuzzy, silver heads on long reddish orange stem create a truly novel, new introduction.

An absolutely stunning species known to generate more blooms per square meter than any other Etlingera. The foliage is only 2 to 3 m. high and prefers partial shade.

A definite favorite, this species, from northern Malaysia, is similar in size and light requirements as ‘Siam Rose’.
